La Malagueta Bullring is getting ready for one of the most awaited events of the bullfighting and cultural calendar of Malaga: the Corrida Picassiana 2026. This year, the event will take place on Saturday, April 4, coinciding with Holy Saturday, and unites in a unique way the bullfighting festival with the artistic tradition that represents the universal figure of Pablo Picasso.
The artistic line-up is complemented by a luxury line-up that will make the paseíllo in La Malagueta:
Saúl Jiménez Fortes – bullfighter from Malaga, an outstanding figure with a personal and deep style, closely linked to his homeland and to the bullring of Malaga.
Juan Ortega – Sevillian bullfighter with temper and personality, who brings distinction and bullfighting of great classicism.
Pablo Aguado – also from Seville, recognized for his elegant and pure bullfighting, inscribed within the tradition of the classical school.
The bulls to be fought belong to the prestigious cattle ranches of El Pilar and Puerto de San Lorenzo, two Salamancan herds that provide an attractive challenge for the trio and a spectacle of maximum demand for the fan.
The work that announces this edition has been created by the artist Jacob Vilató, grand-nephew of Picasso, which gives the poster a deep symbolic and artistic charge. Vilató has incorporated the original sand from the bullring of La Malagueta into the painting support itself, establishing a physical and emotional link between the pictorial art and the arena itself of the bullring on Paseo de Reding. This approach makes the poster a unique piece, which transcends mere promotion and is situated as a work of art linked to the history of the bullring itself.
In addition, this work will not only announce the bullfight, but will also be part of the scenography of the event, reinforcing the dialogue between bullfighting and contemporary creation.
The Picassian Bullfight is not just a bullfight; it is a cultural celebration that unites two deeply Spanish expressions: art and bullfighting. Inspired by the figure of Picasso —a universal figure from Malaga—, this celebration transforms the bullring into a stage where aesthetics, history and emotion meet to offer an unforgettable experience.
Traditionally held in August as part of the Malaga Fair, in this edition the bullfight has been brought forward to Easter, thus combining religious fervor with the grandeur of a festival that pays tribute to the genius of 20th century art.
Tickets for the Corrida Picassiana 2026 are now available and offer the opportunity to enjoy a show that, year after year, has established itself as one of the most special bullfighting and cultural events in Andalusia.
