General information
A bullfight is a bullfighting event that is part of bullfighting, where steers are fought, which are young bulls less than four years old and that have not yet reached the category of fighting bull. In the novillada, the bulls are fought by novilleros, who are bullfighters in training and who seek to make a name for themselves in the bullfighting world.
During the bullfight, the bullfighters fight and perform bullfights with the bulls, using cape and muleta. Furthermore, in this type of bullfight there is the presence of picadors, who are horseback riders equipped with a long rod called a pike, which they use to chop the bull in one third of rods.
The objective of the bullfight with picadors is to provide an opportunity for the novilleros to face a fighting bull in a bullring and show their bullfighting skills and abilities. It is considered a transitional stage between bullfights without picadors, where bullfighters face calves, and professional bullfights.
