What is a rejones bullfight?

A bullfight of rejoneadores is a type of bullfighting show in which bullfighters use specially trained horses to face brave bulls. Unlike a traditional bullfight, in which the bullfighters face the bull on foot, in the corrida de rejoneadores, the bullfighters carry out their work mounted on horseback.

The corrida de rejoneadores consists of several parts:

1. The paseíllo: As in a bullfight, the event begins with the paseíllo, where the rejoneadores, their crews and the picadors on horseback parade through the ring to present themselves to the public.
2. Thirds: The rejoneadores bullfight is also divided into thirds, although the characteristics of each third are different from those of a conventional bullfight.

• The third of rods: In this phase, the rejoneadores use horse-mounted picadors to face the bull and stick a spear into the morillo. The main objective is to measure the strength and bravery of the bull.
• The tercio de banderillas: After the tercio de varas, the rejoneadores perform a series of luck with banderillas, which are spears adorned with colored paper, stuck in the upper part of the bull’s back.
• The third of the rejón de muerte: In this final phase, the rejoneadores carry out their main task, using their ability and dexterity to execute various movements and bullfighting luck while on horseback. Finally, the rejoneador seeks the final thrust with a rejón de muerte, which is a kind of spear or sword adapted for this type of show, to kill the bull.

3. Acknowledgments: As in a traditional bullfight, if the bull has been brave and has shown great bravery during the bullfight, the public can ask the president of the ring to grant him a return to the ring as recognition.

Types of locations

In the Malaga bullring (La malagueta), you can find different types of seats or seats, offering different perspectives and levels of comfort for spectators. Some of the seats available in the Malaga bullring are the following:

1. First Row: These are the seats closest to the ring, located at the front. They offer a privileged view of the fight, but they are also more exposed to action and danger.

3. Stalls: These are the middle seats, they have a slightly higher view and away from the arena.

5. Grandstands: They are the highest areas of the bullring, with seats in the form of stands. Although the view may be further away, they provide a global perspective of the run.

Finally, the spectator will be able to buy his ticket for the bulls depending on the area in which his seat is located.

• Sun: They are usually the cheapest tickets since they are located in the area where the sun is the most.
• Sun and shade: These seats alternate areas where it is sunny and others where there is shade.
• Shade: They are the most expensive but also the best since they allow you to see the bullfight better and with greater comfort.
