The Corrida Picassiana will return to Malaga the next April 4th in the Plaza de Toros de La Malagueta, in one of the most anticipated events of the bullfighting season. The advertising poster of this year’s Corrida Picassiana will be a work by the artist Jacob Vilató, great-nephew of Picasso and one of the most prominent figures of contemporary art linked to his legacy.
The choice of Vilató reinforces the artistic character of the event and establishes a bridge between the bullfighting tradition and contemporary plastic creation, providing a personal and current vision that dialogues with the spirit of Picasso.
Opening of the 150th anniversary of La Malagueta
The Corrida Picassiana del April 4 will also have a historical significance, since will officially open in 2026 the commemorative events of the 150th anniversary of La Malagueta Bullring, one of the most emblematic bullrings in Spain.
This celebration will be the starting point of a very special year for Malaga, in which the following will be held 150 years of history, tradition and bullfighting culture, consolidating La Malagueta as a key space in the cultural life of the city. In fact, the Bullring and its pioneering Immersive Museum can now be visited every day from 10am to 5pm.
